The University of Vienna strives to make its website accessible in accordance with the Web Accessibility Act (WZG) as amended to implement Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 on barrier-free access to the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies (OJ L 327, 2.12.2016, p. 1).
This accessibility statement applies to the website https://smart.univie.ac.at
Status of compatibility with the requirements
This website is partially compatible with compliance level AA of the „Web Accessibility Guidelines – WCAG 2.1” according to the applicable harmonised European standard „European Standard EN 301 549 V2.1.2 (2018-08)” due to the following incompatibilities.
Non-accessible content
a) Incompatibility with accessibility regulations.
Some interactive elements (navigation, filters) do not have a visible focus label (2.4.7 Focus Visible) and are not accessible with the keyboard. (2.1.1 Keyboard).
Some elements have too little colour contrast (1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum)).
Some elements do not have a meaningful title (1.1.1 Non-text content, 4.1.2 Name, role, value).
Heading levels are not always used correctly (4.1.1 Syntax analysis).
Information on form fields is not read out by some screen readers (3.3.2 Labels or instructions).
The filters in the search results are not recognisable with mobile screen readers (Talkback, VoiceOver on iPhone) (1.3.5 Identify input purpose).
The language of the website cannot be determined (3.1.1 Language of the page).
Lists are not properly structured and thus cannot be determined programmatically (1.3.1 Information, Structure and Relationship).
Search results are not available in the form of a status message (4.1.3 Status messages) and they are not structured correctly (1.3.1 Information, structure and relationship).
The navigation in the header area of the page is only accessible with the keyboard or screen reader after the content or is difficult to use (2.4.3 Focus order).
These incompatibilities will be resolved in the next development cycle.
b) Disproportionate load
Parts of the website in other languages are not marked as such (3.1.2 Language of sentences and words in other languages). Texts are entered in old IT systems that are no longer developed and do not have the possibility to enter HTML tags.
Therefore, the adaptation would constitute a disproportionate burden within the meaning of Art. 5 of Directive (EU) 2016/2102.
